The Buzz about My New Gig!

You may have seen me hint at some big news I had to share.

While it doesn’t have anything to do with Momcomm or Adventuroo, it’s the kind of news that practically made me jump up and down so it’s one I just can’t keep to myself…

I’m now the Community Manager at Burt’s Bees!

(excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor)

(wait, give me a sec)

(okay, I’m up)

I’ve been a big fan of Burt’s Bees for years (their cuticle cream is an old staple of mine). And a few years ago when we moved to Raleigh, I thought how cool it would be to work there (they’re based in nearby Durham). Well, here I am– started last Tuesday!

In my new role, I’ll be writing content for their Facebook page, compiling and analyzing analytics and helping with social media strategies. Eventually I may even do some things for Twitter. I’ve already been planning the content calendar (shout out to my Content Brew peeps), writing content and all that fun stuff. I’m currently working with the Content and Social Media Manager, who has done an awesome job building up the company’s presence. Did I mention that we have over ONE MILLION Facebook fans? Sweet!

It’s a 20-hour a week contract position, which fits in perfectly with my life right now. I can still do my blogs and have the kids in preschool part-time. I’ll even mostly be working from home. But I’m going into the office some… sitting in meetings and other things you actually sorta miss when you work from home. I can’t think of a better balance on the job front.

Of course, I’d love it if you’d keep up with all the Burt’s Bees buzz by following us on Facebook and Twitter.

I’ll stop now with the bee references. I will just say how thrilled I am with my new role and how happy it makes me to share this news with all of you!

That is so exciting! When I first started blogging my husband asked me what companies I would like to work with as far as giveaways/sponsorships and Burt’s Bees was on my list! I’m looking forward to seeing your work!

I’m a new follower and love that you are in Raleigh- I grew up in the area and graduated from Meredith!

This is fantastic news! Seeing the Burt’s Bee FB page helped me better understand how a fan page can be used with the new timeline. I love the pictures and vibrant content. I’m still building/transferring content and trying to understand WP after being on Blogger for a year.

Anyway – this will help motivate me to get WP up and running and build a FB page. I hope to get on your next Brew Content as well.

Sorry – rambling here! Congratulations on your new position!

Melissa, that’s great! You’re working for a great company. (I had an AWFUL reaction to one of their products, and they had me call their nursing call center and refunded my money. They were really, really nice and classy.) And it fits into your lifestyle. That’s really exciting. You deserve it. And I think your content calendar will totally rock. :-)

Congratulations! I love Burt’s Bees. I think I may have even loved Burt’s Bees before it was all over the place, which is so unusual for me. I’m never that “country when country wasn’t cool” person.;) Anyway, go kick some. . . actually, don’t kick any bees. That would kill them. Just, good luck.
